A petition is a written prayer to the County Assembly by a member of the public requesting the County Assembly to consider any matter within its authority, including enacting, amending or repealing any legislation.

The County Assembly Standing Orders, Part XXII, provide for the legal framework for public petitions. This begins from the submission of a petition to the register of petitions in Standing Order No’s; 195, 196, 197, 198, 199, 200, 201, 202, 203 and 204. The Standing Orders also list the forms of public petitions.
